Virgin aluminum ingots produced by aluminum ingot casting are utilized in various sectors, including automotive, construction, electronics, and packaging. Given their high purity, these ingots are typically employed in applications demanding high conductivity, durability, and corrosion resistance. Their use extends from manufacturing vehicle parts and consumer electronics to food packaging and infrastructure material. Users of this LCA data set should take into account that the boundaries of the aluminum production research system include bauxite mining, alumina preparation, carbon anode production, aluminum electrolysis, and aluminum ingot casting, as well as power supply. Due to data limitations, the construction and maintenance of aluminum plants and the production and maintenance of smelting furnaces and other production equipment are not included within the system boundaries. When using this data set, it is advised to supplement it with accurate construction and maintenance emissions data for a comprehensive LCA. Additionally, the emissions data for bauxite mining is an estimation based on environmental emissions data from the ore mining database in Umberto 4.0 software. Users should be cautious when applying this data to other contexts and consider adjusting it according to specific local data.
