Description

Bauxite, extracted through the mining process described, is primarily used for the production of alumina (Al2O3) via the Bayer process, which is a precursor to the production of aluminum metal. This aluminum is subsequently used for various applications such as in aviation, construction, electronics, and the manufacture of consumer goods. When utilizing this dataset, the user should consider the geographic and temporal relevance of the carbon emission factors provided. The use of date of publication should be in accordance with the actual period in which the assessment is conducted to ensure accuracy. Moreover, the dataset must be applied considering the technological evolution and the efficiency of the mining processes included. Any system boundary definition in a Life Cycle Assessment should explicitly state whether alumina production and subsequent processes are included or excluded.
