Wellenstoff is a grade of corrugated base paper, which forms the corrugated middle layer in the production of corrugated board, where is covered between two outer layers of linerboard (e.g. kraftliner or testliner). According to the common sector terminology, “wellenstoff” or “recycled medium” is made from recycled material, i.e. uses recovered paper as raw material as opposed to “semichemical fluting”, which is used interchangeably with wellenstoff but is made from virgin material.
Undefined unit processes (UPRs) are the unlinked, multi-product activity datasets that form the basis for all of the system models available in the ecoinvent database. This is the way the datasets are obtained and entered into the database by the data providers. These activity datasets are useful for investigating the environmental impacts of a specific activity (gate-to-gate), without regard to its upstream or downstream impacts.
