The dataset represents electricity generation using Bio heavy fuel oil in Korea. It is based on the models created for the Korea EPD Energy database by Korea Environmental Industry & technology Insutiture(KEITI). The data is based on industry data supplied by power generation companies which have representative technology and thus reflecting the realtity in power generation using Bio heavy fuel oil. The foreground data have been combined with LCI models integrating Korea LCI dataset and Ecoinvent 2.2 on raw materials, energy supply systems, ancillary processes and materials as background data. Therefore, the data set covers all relevant process steps / technologies over the supply chain of the represented "cradle to gate" inventory.
The independent expert group in Korea, which is composed by KEITI, has critically reviewed the entire LCI data profile including data consolidation, development for the various LCI models and the calculation of the associated LCI data sets. null


Foreground Systems
Bio heavy fuel oil is recognized as a renewable energy, and most of the bio heavy fuel oil in Korea has been used for power generation.
The power generation process using bio heavy fuel oil include pre-treatment process, combustion process, power generation process, water treatment process, denitrification process, electrostatic precipitation process, and a wastewater treatment process.
The data for power generation was divided into three categorie: building, equipment and power generation.
For bulding, input include cement, section steel, rebar and ready-mix concrete, and output include waste cement, section steel scrap, steel scrap and waste concrete.
For equipment, input inlcude stainless seel and carbon steel, and ouput include stainless steel scrap and carbon steel scrap.
For power generation process, input includes bio heavy fuel oil as raw material, process water, limestone, lubricating oil and others as ancillary materials, and electricity, kerosene and diesel as energy. Output include electricity as product, water from turbin, industrial wate and air emission. Air emissions include CO2, CH4, N2O, CO, NOx, SOs, Particulates, PM10, NMVOC and NH3.
