Description

This unit process represents the production/service of 1kWh of electricity, steel industry, private ,in Japan created from statistical information and other sources.
The system boundary of this process is "inputting a fuel -> power generation."

Technology

In-house power generation in steel industry
In integrated steel plants, a large amount of gas, such as coke oven gas, blast furnace gas, converter gas, etc. is generated, and is used as fuel in each steel manufacturing process and also for power generation.
Of fuel for power generation, there are many cases of running joint thermal power which generates electricity by obtaining gas from a steel mill. They are treated as public power and not included as in-house power generation.
There are power generation by steam boiler, cogeneration, and other power generation (hydropower, furnace top pressure power generation) in in-house power generation in steel industry.Boiler steam is used in production processes other than power generation.
