The activity represents the construction and maintenance along its lifetime of a fish freezing (including fish pre-processing) plant, expressed as the installed capacity required to process 1000 kg of raw material. The life cycle inventories were produced based on a sample of 1 Peruvian plant (processing capacity: 16 200 t/y) and data from other industry representatives.
System boundaries of fish processing plants and relations between activities
Undefined unit processes (UPRs) are the unlinked, multi-product activity datasets that form the basis for all of the system models available in the ecoinvent database. This is the way the datasets are obtained and entered into the database by the data providers. These activity datasets are useful for investigating the environmental impacts of a specific activity (gate-to-gate), without regard to its upstream or downstream impacts.
