Description

Location: NZ - New Zealand
This dataset was created as copy of the corresponding Swiss activity. It is meant to be used temporarily until a region specific power plant construction dataset is available.
This dataset represents the construction of the geothermal power plant at the surface, resulting in a coupled underground and surface system. It collects all parts necessary to build a geothermal power plant: deep well drilling, stimulation, and surface power generation installations. It further includes the implementation of a downhole pump connected with the power generator.
Detailed information on this dataset is presented in the book "Energy from the Earth. 2015. Hirschberg, Wiemer, Burgherr (eds.) (see field "Data Generator and Publication").
Undefined unit processes (UPRs) are the unlinked, multi-product activity datasets that form the basis for all of the system models available in the ecoinvent database. This is the way the datasets are obtained and entered into the database by the data providers. These activity datasets are useful for investigating the environmental impacts of a specific activity (gate-to-gate), without regard to its upstream or downstream impacts.
