Description

Location: MY - Malaysia
This dataset represents the surface irrigation in Malaysia with a 45% irrigation efficieny (FAO 1989). The inventory includes the water pumping of ground water and surface water. The water supplied to the plants (1m3) and the water evaporated or infiltrated shall be included in the crop production datasets.
Undefined unit processes (UPRs) are the unlinked, multi-product activity datasets that form the basis for all of the system models available in the ecoinvent database. This is the way the datasets are obtained and entered into the database by the data providers. These activity datasets are useful for investigating the environmental impacts of a specific activity (gate-to-gate), without regard to its upstream or downstream impacts.

Technology

Surface irrigation is the application of water by gravity flow to the surface of the field. This application can be either the entire field is flooded (basin irrigation) or the water is fed into small channels (furrows) or strips of land (borders).
