Livestock and poultry manure treatment methods include dry cleaning manure, water flushing manure, bedding material treatment. The treatment method of water flushing manure is strictly restricted by the "Water Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan" (referred to as "Water Ten") [88] and the new "Environmental Protection Law", which shows a downward trend year by year; The bedding method has less pollutant discharge and less harm to the environment, and can be directly applied to the field after simple composting, but it is highly restricted by economic cost, and is commonly used in poultry house manure treatment. The environmental harm of dry cleaning is between the two, and the economic cost is lower [89,90]. When utilizing this data set for Life Cycle Assessment or related research, users should account for the regional differences in manure handling practices as different regions may vary in adoption of treatment methods. The data should be used in context with other environmental measures and regulations, such as the 'Water Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan'. Consideration should also be given to the economic implications of manure treatment options and technological feasibility. Proper attention has to be given to the system boundaries definition, especially considering the potential use of treated manure as a replacement for commercial fertilizers which may lead to credits in the life cycle inventory.
