This dataset represents the production of o-phenylenediamine from hydrogenation of 2-nitroaniline. Most common production route for para-phenylenediamine is reported to be through hydrogenation of 4-nitroaniline. Common hydrogenation or reduction for the family of products is reported to be the Bechamp reduction which involves use of iron and acid as regents. Reaction is assumed to yield 95% of product. This dataset is a estimation partially based on literature for the production of para-phenylendiamine.
Undefined unit processes (UPRs) are the unlinked, multi-product activity datasets that form the basis for all of the system models available in the ecoinvent database. This is the way the datasets are obtained and entered into the database by the data providers. These activity datasets are useful for investigating the environmental impacts of a specific activity (gate-to-gate), without regard to its upstream or downstream impacts.
