Ethylene and propylene were obtained by early-stage crude oil refining and then polymerized to PE and PP, respectively. Users utilizing this PP production data set need to consider the methodological constraints of the data sourced primarily from China, supplemented by European process data when Chinese data is unavailable. It is critical to apply this dataset correctly respecting the national grid structure of China for electricity input calculations. The ReCiPe method (Europe H/H) should be used for environmental impact assessment to ensure consistency with the given functional unit of 1 kg resin production. Special attention should be paid to the electricity mix and technology applicability when transposing these data to other regions or when evaluating scenarios with different grid compositions.
