This process describes the recycling of scrap aluminum to produce recycled aluminum ingots. Recycled aluminum ingots can potentially be used in various industries including automotive, construction, and packaging, for the manufacturing of components that do not require primary aluminum's high purity level. When utilizing this dataset, incorporate it for processes involving secondary aluminum production. Ensure methodological consistency by using data from the same sources and years. Take note that some inputs and background processes contributing less than 1% to total mass were not considered. For secondary production, refer to data provided by the Aluminum Association from 2013, and account for the changes such as separate aluminum scrap collection and increased salt input in the recycling process. Recall that location-specific data should be prioritized if available; however, country or global data may be used as substitutes if regional data is not accessible.
