Description

Reference product: sugar beet [kg]
Location: CH - Switzerland
This dataset represents the production of 1 kg of sugar beet root and 0.67 kg of sugar beet crown and leaf (both fresh matter; sugar beet crown and leaf is labelled 'biowaste'). The yield of sugar beet root is 77640 kg/ha at a moisture content at storage of 77%, the yield of sugar beet crown and leaf is 51760 kg/ha at a moisture content of 86%.

Sugar beet crown and leaf are only harvested in 0.5% of the cases. This dataset is parameterized with respect to the fraction of crown and leaf harvested. The default fraction of harvested crown and leaf is 0.5%, exchanges in the dataset represent weighted averages of 99.5% of crown and leaf non-harvested and 0.5% harvested. Changes in this fraction will affect corresponing machine processes and direct field emissions, amount of the by product and CO2 bound from atmosphere in exported products.
[This dataset has been generated using the system model "Allocation, cut-off by classification". A system model describes how activity datasets are linked to form product systems. The allocation cut-off system model subdivides multi-product activities by allocation, based on a physical properties, economic, mass or other properties. By-products of waste treatment processes are cut-off, as are all by-products classified as recyclable. Markets in this model include all activities in proportion to their current production volume.
Version 3 of the ecoinvent database offers three system models to choose from. For more information, please visit: https://www.ecoinvent.org/database/system-models-in-ecoinvent-3/system-…)]
