Description

Location: GLO - Global
Based on Swiss 28 metric ton lorry running with vegetable oil. Inventory refers to the entire transport life cycle. For road infrastructure, expenditures and environmental interventions due to construction of roads have been allocated based on the Gross tonne kilometre performance. Expenditures due to operation of the road infrastructure, as well as land use have been allocated based on the yearly vehicle kilometre performance. For the attribution of vehicle share to the transport performance a vehicle life time performance of 3.14E06 tkm/vehicle have been assumed. An average load of 5.82 t/vehicle is assumed. The data of the energy use and combustion emissions represents average data for the operation of heavy duty vehicles (20-28t) in Switzerland, with an average load of 50%. The transport datasets 'operation of a vehicle' are related to life cycles of other products and using the reference unit of [km].
Undefined unit processes (UPRs) are the unlinked, multi-product activity datasets that form the basis for all of the system models available in the ecoinvent database. This is the way the datasets are obtained and entered into the database by the data providers. These activity datasets are useful for investigating the environmental impacts of a specific activity (gate-to-gate), without regard to its upstream or downstream impacts.

Technology

Vehicle operation: Euro3. Road construction comprises bitumen and concrete roads. For the manufacturing of vehicles, the data reflects current modern technologies. operation, lorry 28t, rape methyl ester 100%. operation, lorry 28t, rape methyl ester 100%. These data include precombustion emissions, exhaust emissions or tail pipe emissions as well as non-exhaust emissions due to vehicle motion, e.g. tyre abrasion.
