Description

This unit process represents the production/service of 1kg of uranium hexafluoride, ammonia blowing process ,in Japan created from statistical information and other sources.
The system boundary of this process is "(yellowcake) -> extraction -> firing -> reduction -> fluoridation."

Technology

Production of uranium hexafluoride fromyellow cake.Ammonia blowing method.Yellow cake is dissolved in nitric acid, extracted as uranyl nitrate by organic solvent and back extracted with water, to separate the impurities.
It blows ammonia and makes uranyl nitrate, calcines this and makes uranium trioxide.
After uranium dioxide is formed by hydrogen reduction, uranium tetrafluoride is formed from hydrogen fluoride, and uranium hexafluoride is formed from fluorin.
