This module uses a mix of data, some specific for the URENCO facilities taken from environmental reports, some from literature. Due to lack of information on Russian plants, all requirements and emissions are arbitrarily assumed the double of the URENCO module. Only (but still approximate) information available for TENEX facility is the electricity consumption by machines of two recent generations. A mix of generations has been assumed here, assuming conservatively a high value for auxiliary electricity (i.e., not directly used for spinning the centrifuges). The Russian electricity mix is used, which has been has been approximated using existing ecoinvent v2.0 electricity datasets for Europe. The factor for the infrastructure requirement is calculated with annual throughput of 1500 t SWU for 30 years operation (the Russian facilities are larger but this should not affect much the figures normalized by the total production).
[This dataset is meant to replace the following datasets:]
[The full documentation of this dataset was originally provided in the corresponding ecoinvent report from the Swiss Centre for Life Cycle Inventories, which is accessible for free to guests and users of ecoinvent version 2 (https://www.ecoinvent.org/login-databases.html). The dataset may subsequently have been subjected to central changes to the database, as described in the respective change report for each new release.]
Undefined unit processes (UPRs) are the unlinked, multi-product activity datasets that form the basis for all of the system models available in the ecoinvent database. This is the way the datasets are obtained and entered into the database by the data providers. These activity datasets are useful for investigating the environmental impacts of a specific activity (gate-to-gate), without regard to its upstream or downstream impacts.
