Description

Location: CA-QC - Canada, Québec
This dataset represents the construction of the network connection for wind turbines with 2MW and 2.3MW capacities. This is a child dataset for Quebec based on the global dataset.
This connection connects one turbine to the electricity network.
The main components of a network connection of a wind turbine are the cables, the transformer and the sub-station with the circuit breaker and the electricity meter inside it. According to (European Communities 2001), electricity produced with wind turbines is connected to medium voltage or high voltage systems, depending on the size of the windfarm.

Undefined unit processes (UPRs) are the unlinked, multi-product activity datasets that form the basis for all of the system models available in the ecoinvent database. This is the way the datasets are obtained and entered into the database by the data providers. These activity datasets are useful for investigating the environmental impacts of a specific activity (gate-to-gate), without regard to its upstream or downstream impacts.

Technology

10 kV-cables with a total length of 1000 m per turbine are assumed to be used for the connection to the electricity network.
